Depression Therapy in Asheville, NC

You Don't Have to Stay Here

Depression makes everything feel heavy and hopeless, and asking for help when you're already exhausted is hard. That said, it does respond well to treatment.

Does Any of This Feel Familiar?

  • Feeling empty, numb, or disconnected from life
  • Losing interest in things you used to enjoy
  • Exhaustion that sleep doesn't seem to fix
  • Difficulty getting out of bed or completing basic tasks
  • Harsh self-criticism and feelings of worthlessness
  • Withdrawing from friends, family, or activities
  • Changes in appetite or sleep patterns
  • Trouble concentrating or making decisions

Depression is one of the most common mental health challenges. The World Health Organization estimates it affects over 280 million people worldwide (WHO, 2023). Research shows that 60-80% of people with depression can be effectively treated with psychotherapy, medication, or a combination (APA). Reaching out is the hardest part.

A Path Through Depression

My approach addresses both the symptoms and the underlying patterns that keep depression in place

Working With Your Inner Critic

Depression often comes with a relentless inner voice that tells you you're not good enough. I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you develop a different relationship with this critical part of yourself.

The goal isn't to force positive thinking. We look at where the self-criticism comes from and build a different way of responding to yourself.

Behavioral Activation

When you're depressed, waiting until you "feel like it" to do things keeps you stuck. We'll work together to gradually rebuild engagement with life in a way that creates momentum.

Small, meaningful actions can shift your mood more than you might expect. We'll find what works for you.

What Working Together Looks Like

1

Understanding Your Experience

We'll explore what's contributing to your depression and what you need to feel better.

2

Building Skills & Insight

You'll develop practical tools while gaining deeper understanding of your patterns.

3

Reconnecting With Life

As treatment progresses, you'll rediscover meaning, connection, and the things that matter to you.
